About the Tournament

This year marks the 12th year of  The Edward J. Deeley Memorial Youth Tournament. Started by The Wong Family, Bill Nunnery, and Cheryl Stanley in 2005, the EJD Memorial has become one of Massachusetts premier youth tournaments.

Edward Deeley was inducted into the Massachusetts Interscholastic Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame for his many years of service and support to the Natick Wrestling program. Eddie founded the Natick Youth Wrestling program in the winter of 1993 and also was the first president of the Natick Wrestling Association. He was an enormous supporter of all Natick wrestlers on and off the mat.

During the 2003-04 season Eddie made all of Natick’s home and away matches. Despite being extremely sick, he supported the Natick wrestlers for two long days in Reading as they made a valiant run at the Division II State Championship. Natick placed nine wrestlers that season and finished in second place.

In April 2004, the Natick Wrestling family lost arguably their biggest supporter, Eddie Deeley.
